Our Chairman Mr. Abdullah Atalay Attended the 8th Turkish-German Economic Power Summit
Our Chairman of the Board, Abdullah Atalay, participated as a speaker at the 8th Turkish-German Economic Power Summit held in Düsseldorf, Germany on May 4, in a conference titled "Foundations of a Green Future: Energy Vision." The summit was organized by the Association of Turkish Businesspeople and Industrialists in Europe (ATİAD) at the Düsseldorf Congress Center and brought together leading figures of the business world.
The opening speech was delivered by ATİAD President Aziz Sarıyar. Türkiye's Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, North Rhine-Westphalia State Premier Hendrik Wüst, Türkiye's Berlin Ambassador Ahmet Başar Şen, and FDP General Secretary Bijan Djir-Sarai also delivered speeches. Germany's Finance Minister Christian Lindner and Düsseldorf Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller participated with video messages.
In his speech, Abdullah Atalay discussed Türkiye's renewable energy goals and the roadmap defined under the Paris Climate Agreement. He emphasized the importance of the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to keep global temperature rise below 2°C. He addressed Türkiye's energy sector development and the use of renewable sources. He noted that the public share in electricity, which was 70% in 2000, dropped to 18% by the end of 2023, and that Türkiye's installed capacity has reached 107 GW.
Mr. Abdullah emphasized Türkiye's commitment to renewable energy and investments in the field. He stated that 56% of the current installed capacity comes from renewable sources — 30% hydro, 11% wind, and 11% solar. He highlighted YEKA projects encouraging the use of domestic equipment and increasing renewable energy investments. He noted Türkiye's target of reaching 65% renewable energy capacity by 2035.
